I never in a million years thought I’d make my way to Ashland, Oregon on purpose. To be honest, I didn’t even think about the southern Oregon town until I went to Travelfest in Portland. I met a lovely woman who worked at Lithia Springs Resort; a vendor at the event. We spent a good time speaking about solo female travel and how incredible it is to go solo. She gave me her card and I went on perusing the vendors and taking photos by myself in the photo booth.
Well long story short, we reconnected and she invited Kelsey and me down to stay at Lithia Springs Resort to experience the best of Ashland. We had just finished our stint in San Francisco and were acclimatizing back to the slower state of life in Portland when we spontaneously decided to take up the offer to go to Ashland. We packed my car and drove the four-and-a-half hours south, ready to relax once again in a beautiful part of the world.
Beautiful doesn’t even come close to describing Lithia Springs Resort. Nestled just minutes out of the town center, Lithia Springs Resort is a great way to spend a weekend relaxing, soaking and indulging.
We arrived and were greatly warmly by reception and given our keys to our suite. Even though we just got back from SF, we were ready for some much-needed relaxation. The month prior was one of the hardest I’ve ever had to deal with and exploring a new place was exactly what I needed.
Ashland, Oregon did not disappoint!
Our first day at the resort started the moment we dropped off our bags in our room. We had massage reservations at the their Waterstone Spa. We were spoiled with 30 minute massages. They were fantastic. We felt revived after that. We were informed that Afternoon Tea was being served next door to the spa, so we indulged in some beautiful scones and spreads, tea and fruit in our robes.
The grounds of Lithia Springs was just as beautiful as the inside of the resort. We were there in the autumn, which I believe is the perfect time to visit to see the intense color of the leaves just before they go away for the year.
Our suite was perfect for the two of us. It was equipped with a full kitchen, big tub, fireplace that is visible in both the living room and bedroom, and a cute little patio to see the foliage. I was in heaven. We had the best intentions to have a min TT&W retreat and work on our vision boards, but we got too caught up in taking naps, drinking red wine and taking baths. Oh well.
The next morning we went to breakfast in the resort (it’s included with your stay!). I was expecting the regular barely-there breakfast, but I was wrong. Their hot breakfast was delicious! Full of options, the resort really takes care of their guests with homemade granola, yogurt (the best I’ve ever had), eggs, potatoes, bacon, sausage, toast, fruit, and beverages. My tummy was so happy both mornings we were there.
We ventured out to Ashland to get dinner and were taken by the charming town, all lit up in Christmas lights. We kept saying ‘Oh my god this is so cute! I had no idea this is what Ashland would be like!” It’s true. It was far more civilized than anticipated. It was gorgeous.
The next day after breakfast we packed up our things and checked out of the Lithia Springs Resort, not wanting to leave. I wanted just one more night there. I wasn’t ready to say goodbye to that bed yet.
We ventured into Ashland and walked the town, taking in their Farmer’s Market, Art Market and the beautiful Lithia Park. The water that flows through the town (and at Lithia Springs Resort) is full of natural minerals, helping you feel rejuvenated and relaxed.
The park was a stunner. We explored the water and played on the rocks and enjoyed our time being outdoors. Before we left town, we stopped by Case Coffee for one of the best Almond milk lattes I’ve ever had. Just what I needed; a perfect going away gift from a perfect two-day retreat in a perfect little town. Lithia Springs Resort is the reason why Ashland, Oregon should be on the top of your weekend getaway list.
P.S.- One of our readers liked our Instagram photos so much, she went the weekend after us! We LOVE hearing that!
